Q. How do I know which is the right childcare option for my child?
A. We understand the importance for you to choose the right service for your child. Feel free to ring our office to discuss your aspirations for your child's care and educational needs. (07) 849-3049

Q. Who chooses the Educator for my child?
A. This is one of the major benefits of homebased childcare, you are in control. You choose the Educator (Carer) that you know is right for you and your child. A strong bond forms between parents and Educators, which enhances your child's care. Waikato Family Homebased Childcare is a strong advocate for high quality childcare. All of our Educators have passed a strict interview process including police , CYF and reference checks. Educators homes have met or exceed the safety requirements of the Ministry of Education prior to your interview visit.
 

Q. What happens if my Educator is sick?
A. We guarantee you an alternative Educator.
 

Q. What are the guidelines for your service?
A. All our homes exceed the requirements of the Ministry of Education’s Homebased Care Order, ensuring a fun, safe, educational and caring environment. We are chartered by the Ministry of Education and operate under the Homebased Care Order 1992. We are reviewed by the Education Review Office every three years and this report is publically available on www.ero.govt.nz
 

Q. Will my child receive an educational programme and how will I know my child's needs are being met?
A. Our Visiting Teachers are fully qualified, experienced Early Childhood Teachers who understand the fundamental importance of an individual programme for each child. They will support your Educator in designing this educational programme using the Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Wháriki. Each child receives their own Profile Book and daily Journal which will be a wonderful memory of their time in care.
 

Q. What age group do you provide childcare for?
A. As we provide preschool education, our age group is from birth to 5 years.
 

Q. Will my child have fun and will their socialisation needs be met?
A. Yes, your child will have fun and socialise at the same time. We offer 5 groups per week and planned excursions, so that your child will not only have the personal benefit of being part of a small group setting, but will also have access to larger group environments for their socialisation.
 

Q. Is there a waiting list?
A. No, depending on your hours, the age of your child and the location that you are requiring childcare in, we will let you know very quickly of Educators available to meet your childcare needs.
 

Q. How do I know what's happening in Waikato Family Homebased Childcare?
A. Our bi monthly newsletters are informative and keep you updated with what's happening within Waikato Family Homebased Childcare and the local community.
 

Q. How much will it cost me per hour?
A. Your fees may be as little as .87c per hour (if you are eligible for a WINZ childcare subsidy). However our basic fee rate $4.50 per hour, ring our office on (07) 849-3049 for further information on our fees.
 

Q. What support can I expect from Waikato Family Homebased Childcare?
A. Our Visiting Teachers are there to support and advise parents and Educators in all areas of childcare.
 

Q. Will I be able to visit my child during the day?
A. Yes, you are able to visit your child anytime.
 

Q. Can I continue to breastfeed my child while they are in care?
A. Yes, you are most welcome to continue to breastfeed your child while they are in our care.
 

Q. Can I have visits before my child starts with a Educator to help them settle in?
A. Yes, we strongly support orientation visits prior to commencement of care, during these visits you are required to stay
